Tin Tiles from an 1880 Mansard Roof Meld into Art
Richmond, Maine: Tin tiles from an 1880 Mansard Roof have found a new life as the core material for the Art Exhibition that opens at Richmond Store Gallery. The reception is Friday August 6, 5-8 p.m. Admission is free and all are welcome.
Edward uses tin tiles with other found objects to create art for this Exhibition. The tiles meld as references to Second French Empire architectural style, French military insignia, 19th Century industry and Expositions. Other subjects include birds, fish and seascapes.
Richmond Store Gallery and studio opened in 2007 after 5 years of restoration by artist and owner Edward Mackenzie. It houses his extensive collection of found and manufactured objects he uses to make art. The venue is to create and display his Assemblage 3D Art.
Edward Mackenzie graduated from The Cooper Union Art School, New York. As a Fulbright Scholar he studied at The Royal College of Art in London. Mackenzie was awarded a Creative New Zealand Grant (QE ll) during a productive time as a fine artist in New Zealand.
